I'm a Scot, born and living in Glasgow. My first job was in the Lanarkshire steel mills, first as an office boy then as a labourer. I later went to evening classes to gain the qualifications for university entrance. While studying at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, I was elected president of the students' association. I was a freelance journalist for some 20 years, specialising in business and property features. My writing won 16 UK press awards. I also edited an athletics magazine and for several years wrote a weekly column coaching readers of The Herald, Scotland's leading broadsheet, how to train for the marathon. I still meet people who tell me that reading that column motivated them to achieving one of sport's toughest challenges. I've always been interested in personal development, having radically changed jobs and the path of my own life on several occasions. I discovered life coaching through my work as a journalist and was impressed by its sheer practicality, its focus on the future and its powerful ability to motivate. I decided to train as a coach and now divide my time between coaching and writing. I'm trained in co-active coaching, which means that our relationship will be totally equal. I'm not a guru, nor an advisor. I won't wave crystals over your navel, I won't tell you what to wear to the party. I'll simply work with to achieve the future you want. To make sure that I achieve my own goals, I have my own coach. | |
